At our home we use a number of electrical equipment including television, washing machine, freeze, music system, water heater, computer and many more. We can hardly spend a day without these appliances or gadgets, and if any case such incident occurs we can’t stop cursing our fortunate. However, the more unfortunate fact is that though we desperately depend on these appliances but most of us don’t know the right way of using these. Consequently, we spend our hard-earned money by paying high electric bills.



Change Behavior


Are you aware of the fact that we actually pay more amounts than we use? You can save up to 10% of in your electricity bill by bringing little changes to your behavior like switching off the electrical equipment rather than keeping them in standby mode, turning off computers, lights when they are not being used by you. Use task lighting in place of using room lighting; de-dust the bulbs and other lighting fixtures for maintaining illumination. Use compact florescent bulbs instead of normal bulbs as it consumes 75% less energy, more energy efficient and the lifespan is also longer.


Even speak to your kids about the ways to conserve electricity and teach them the right approach. Children love to carry out responsibilities, if you ask them to switch off the light when it’s not in use or not to keep any appliance in standby mode they will definitely do it more efficiently than you. Ask them to remind if you ever forget to follow this good practice, with a collaborative approach to the situation you can definitely bring a huge difference in your present and upcoming electricity bills.


Ways to Save On Freezer and Fridge


Defrost the fridge at a regular interval as when ice mounts up freezer consumes more electricity than usual. Check the doors are locked properly and leave the habit of putting hot food into the fridge as more energy is used to cool it down. At least twice a year clean the condenser coils and don’t keep the refrigerator next to such appliances that spread out heat.


Bring Energy Efficient Device


Often people wonder over the fact that how to reduce electricity bill, when you have to use major home appliances like freeze for the whole day. The major home appliances like freeze, dishwashers, and room heaters are accountable for adding huge money to the utility bills and if you are using decades-old appliances then you are unfortunately paying more than you need to. The appliances made with innovative feature don’t consume as much electricity as the older models used to consume. Hence investing in an energy-efficient device is a viable approach if you want to enjoy long-term benefits.


Last but not the least, use smartly your air condition unit, washing machine or oven to save more on monthly electricity bill. It’s better to use window unit rather than split unit in residential building and check the evaporator, condenser, electrical wires, lubrication, and filter and blower wheel once in a year to ensure the appliance is not consuming more electricity than it is designed to.
